Interspace - noun: /ˈin(t)ərˌspās/: the space between obects.
I started writing Interspace to describe the space between financial services ecosystems, to describe and explain the financial technology that underpins how we do business and how we empower financial access. I try to simplify the complex and share honest opinions about what we’re doing right and where we can improve the fintech landscape. And I care deeply about understanding core unit economics and building sustainable business models so we can provide critical financial functionality in resilient ways.
Here are some of my top posts:
The Business of Free - how Robinhood’s 3% back credit card works
Overbanked - why we may have too many banks in the US
Why the Durbin Amendment isn't as scary for fintechs as you might think
About Me
Hey - I'm Samir. I drive business impact in fintech.
Today, I am leading Finance & Strategy for the Financial Partnerships team at Cash App where we're expanding financial access to help users do more with their money. Previously I built Strategic Finance at HRT which uses algorithms to drive efficiency in markets.
Prior to that, I drove financial partnerships at Unit, which embeds financial features into products. Before that, I built and led the Strategic Finance function at Chime. Earlier, I was the first finance hire at Sift. I got my start in investment banking in the Financial Institutions Group at JP Morgan covering market structure and asset management.
